YPT Requirements for All Camps

posted May 5, 2016, 12:15 PM by John Royar

Due to recent changes in the Texas Administrative Code for Camps (Summer Resident Camp, Day Camp, NYLT, and Winter Camp), any adult attending camp within the State of Texas MUST take the newly required Youth Protection Training course (YPT Texas YC06-0014). This course must be led by a facilitator and include Camp Leadership: Youth Protection Begins with You, A Guide for Camp Staff. This course is mandated by the State of Texas and is in addition to the on-line Youth Protection Training currently offered by the Boy Scouts of America. This is required for all adult camp staff and leaders (volunteer or paid staff) who are responsible for the immediate supervision of campers at licensed camps in the State of Texas. Adults must present a training certificate stating that Texas YC06-0014 was completed upon arrival at camp. This training will be valid for two years from date of course completion. Adults must also submit an adult application for the purpose of a criminal background check, sex offender registry check, and character references. For a list of FAQ's and more information click on the "YPT 2012 Camp Requirement" PDF document

As of 2015, this information is still accurate and relevant.

Refund Policy:  A portion of fees may be refunded with a written request to the East Texas Area Council prior to the Unit’s attendance at Summer Camp.  All refund checks will be made payable to the Troop (not the individual).  Day Camp refunds will be sent to the individual.  Requests that are submitted 30 days before scheduled attendance at camp may receive up to 100% of fees back.  Requests that are received 15 days before scheduled attendance at camp may receive up to 50% of fees back.  Requests that are received 1 week before scheduled attendance at camp may receive up to 25% of fees back.  All requests will be handled on an individual basis as each situation is different and we understand that some things are unavoidable
