The 5 Rivers District, is sponsoring the Merit Badge Counselor training course “The Essentials of Merit Badge Counseling”. This course qualifies merit badge counselors as “Trained” (Code D76).  Anyone needing this course to be a “Trained” merit badge counselor is invited to attend. There is no cost and no expiration to this training. There will be two opportunities as follows:

September 1, 2016

Lufkin : Old National Guard Armory (Tulane Drive) Map attached

Start time: Promptly at 7;00 PM to 8:15 PM

September 8, 2016

Nacogdoches : the Perritte United Methodist Church Map Attached

Start time: Promptly at 7;00 PM to 8:15 PM

Please plan on arriving in time to settle before 7.  Pre-registration is requested but not mandatory as there are handouts and, of course, a card certifying completion. Please pre-register by emailing either Brad Busler (brad.busler@dreweryinc.com) or Bill Cox (wmgcii@gmail.com)

This is also an opportunity for new merit badge counselors to sign up before or after the session. Only registered and approved counselors can sign off on merit badge requirements and only for the merit badges that have been approved. Anyone desiring to become a merit badge counselor should bring a copy of their valid Youth Protection Training Certificate. If already registered in another position in Scouting, please bring your assigned member id as it will be needed to enter your training.
