On behalf of the East Texas Area Council and the 2017 University of Scouting team I welcome you to this year’s ultimate training event at the University of Texas at Tyler. We are fortunate to have such a great facility host our event again this year.

Inside this program overview, you will learn registration information, course fee schedule, and some answers to questions which have been asked over the past several years. You will also find a course offering by time block for each of the Colleges: General, Cub, Boy, Venturing, and new for this year, Sea Scouting. For more details regarding the courses and suggested track offerings, I ask you retrieve the Course Catalog for more complete details. The Course Catalog is available on the University of Scouting website at www.etexscouts.org

We have a fun day packed with a year’s worth of program ideas, and information – the largest single training event for adult and select youth leaders in the East Texas Area Council. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and share ideas with other like-minded friends of Scouting throughout the area. This document has all the information you need to plan your day and to be prepared. Please take a few minutes to review and plan your classes so when it comes time to register online you will have all the information you need. Should you still have any questions please feel free to contact me by sending email to texasred@hotmail.com. Remember that you do not have to just stay within your current program. You may take any course within this catalog and please be sure to review the College of General Studies class offerings as there is something there for everyone!

We encourage you to use your time between classes for networking – meet up with old friends, make new friends. Of course, we could not do this without the exceptional dedication and support of many volunteers. From instructors to the administrative staff, I thank you for your efforts to make this a spectacular event. I also thank those who came before me and put together a great program. Their efforts coupled with ideas from other University of Scouting program across the BSA make for a great training opportunity!

You MUST check in at the registration room at RBS2024 between 8:00AM – 8:30AM (we will start early if possible). THERE WILL BE NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION THIS YEAR! We will have information to hand out that you will need to complete your day. Participant check-in beginS at 8:00a.m. As you might imagine, with over 200 expected participants, lines can become quite long. Please don’t wait until the last minute to check-in and register.

On behalf of the youth in the East Texas Area Council – a sincere THANK YOU for joining us! By your registration you have indicated your dedication to the principle that every Scout deserves a trained leader.

YIS,

Kim Cook,Chancellor
